Here we show a simple statistical comparison of data for confirmed exoplanets (exoplanet.eu) and Kepler candidates (Borucki et al., 2011). This analysis was done as a quality test of the data from both sources for the Habitable Exoplanets Catalog (HEC). In this process we identified missing data and corrected a few errors in both datasets. Figure 1 shows histograms for each compared planetary parameter and Table 1 shows more details, including stellar properties. Kepler candidates were corrected as described by Muirhead et al. (2011). A discussions about this comparison will be addressed in the HEC paper.
Figure 1. Histograms comparing planetary mass, radius, period, semi-major axis, mean distance, eccentricity, inclination, and equilibrium temperature for 695 confirmed exoplanets (red) and 1235 Kepler candidates (green). There is no mass data for the Kepler candidates.
Table 1. Comparison of the minimum, mean, and maximum value for planetary mass, radius, period, semi-major axis, mean distance, eccentricity, inclination, and equilibrium temperature for 695 confirmed exoplanets and 1235 Kepler candidates. The count column shows how much data for each parameter is available. Note: The stellar results are slightly weighted by the multiple planetary systems, there are only 571 stars in the confirmed exoplanets sample and 997 in the Kepler candidates.
